All courses / Motion graphics in After Effects
Everyone makes their own title, and none of them match
Somewhere in your organization there is a brand manual with a font, three colors and a logo with rules about clear space. And there is a video department where eight people each built their own lower third, none of which obey it.
This is a workshop rather than a course. Over one to three days we build your actual package: intros, outros, lower thirds, logo reveals, texts for social, backgrounds, charts — from your logos, fonts and colors, as Motion Graphics Templates anyone can use in Premiere without opening After Effects.

After the course you can
Workshop: a motion graphics package for your organization
- Leave with working MOGRTs installed and in use, not a plan to make some
- Have templates a colleague can fill in without breaking the design
- Know how to add a template later without it looking like an afterthought
- Have the naming, folder structure and sharing set up for the whole team
- Understand what will break when the brand changes, and where
What we cover
The program
Before we build
- What the brand manual says, and what it forgot to say about motion
- Fonts and licensing — the part that ruins packages six months later
- Deciding what the package actually needs, which is fewer templates than you think
- How your graphics behave in horizontal, vertical and square formats
Building the templates
- Lower thirds that size themselves to the text and adapts to any format
- Intro and outro
- Backgrounds and transitions
- Charts and numbers driven by data files rather than by hand
- Logo animation that obeys the clear-space rules
Making them safe to hand over
- Expression controls: what a colleague may change, and what is locked
- Constraining colors and fonts so the package cannot be misused
- Sensible names and a structure people can navigate
- What happens when someone types a title twice as long as you planned
Delivery and maintenance
- Exporting as MOGRTs and getting them into the Premiere library
- Sharing across the team, including people on other machines
- Versioning, and updating a template that is already in use
- Performance: why a heavy template makes Premiere crawl, and how to avoid it
The honest bit
One day gets you one or two solid templates. Three days gets a package. If your brand is unclear or the fonts are unlicensed, we will spend the first hours on that instead, and it is time well spent — a package built on an unresolved brand has to be built twice.
Who it is for
Video and communication teams who need a consistent graphics package, and the designers or motion people who will maintain it afterwards.
Prerequisites
Someone in the room needs working After Effects knowledge to maintain the package afterwards. Everyone else can be Premiere-only.
Bring
Your brand manual, logo files as vectors, the fonts with their licenses, and examples of graphics you have made that you liked and did not like.
Questions
About this course
Can you just build the package for us instead?
Yes, that is a job rather than a course, and for some teams outsourcing is the right answer. The argument for the workshop is that somebody in-house ends up able to maintain and extend it, which a delivered package does not give you.
What if we do not have a brand manual?
Then we start from what you actually publish and define the rules as we go. That is more common than you'd think, and the resulting package usually becomes the de facto manual.
Will these work in Premiere for people who do not have After Effects?
Yes — that is the whole point of a MOGRT. The people using them never open After Effects. They don't even have to have it installed.
